I've collected my halo posts from X into a public archive on GitHub:

While the posts have been on X all along, in practice a large part of them are unreachable. You have to be logged in, and X's own search is useless for digging out anything older than the most recent handful. And even of those, the search reaches only the first 280 or so characters – the rest of the text doesn't exist for it.
The GitHub archive provides a fix by putting all of it in one open place: no account needed, and the whole thing is fully text-searchable.
The meat of it is three consecutive winters (2023/24, 2024/25, 2025/26) of chasing diamond dusts in Rovaniemi, including a significant number of surface displays of various types (elliptical halos and Bottlinger's rings on windshield, for instance). A new kind of halo sport, the "snowpack displays", feature in some 20 posts. Alongside that is an assortment of other halo material and tiny amount of non-halo optics, such as stratospheric clouds.
In total, there are 380 posts, each provided both as plain text (Markdown, with the photos inline) and as a formatted PDF, organized by year with an index on the front page.
The filenames try to summarize what each post is about. There are three broad post categories:
- A display post carries the date of the display itself at the end of the name — a post about a display on the night of 4/5 Jan 2026 ends in ...26010405, no matter when I actually posted it.
- Posts with "diary" are everything else in the running commentary — weather outlooks, speculation, simulations, a historical display presented, and so on.
- Post with "comment" are a selection of my replies to other people's posts.
To search it all, use the "Search this repository" box (the magnifying glass, or press /) on the GitHub page – it looks inside every post, not just the filenames.
The archive is released under CC0 (public domain), so anyone is free to use any of it, for anything, with no permission or credit needed.
One note for now: the videos aren't included yet – links labelled "[video: …]" won't open. I'll host those separately later. But every post links back to its original on X, where the videos can still be viewed.
